909 Kapiolani is residential tower located in central Kakaako, on the corner of Ward Avenue and Kapiolani Boulevard. The project, built in 2007 is a joint development by Posec Hawaii, Inc (South Korea) and the Hawaii Musicians’ Association. The architectural design was done by PDI Design Group and construction completed by Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co.
The 33 story tower is a modern concrete/glass structure with 225 residential units and some retail/dining space on the ground floor.
909 Kapiolani has a limited amenity package compared to other developments in the area. Most are located on the 6th floor recreation deck including:

909 Kapiolani has 225 residential units which is fewer than average which makes for a quieter building. Most floors are a mix of 1 (620SF) and 2 bedrooms (842-1,000 SF). There are 8 units per floor serviced by 3 elevators. There are just a few 3 bedroom Penthouse units (1,562 SF) on the top floor.
All ocean-facing units come with floor to ceiling glass and lanai space to maximize light and open air feel. Flooring is a mix of carpeting and tile. Bathrooms are larger than average. Kitchens have granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.
909 Kapiolani has a Makai/Mauka orientation and residents on the Makai side have enjoyed nice Ocean views since opening. Unfortunately, due to upcoming development in Ward village that should change drastically as there are 2 developments Ae’o and A’ali’I that will go directly in front of the building. On the opposite side, residents can enjoy nice city and mountain views that should be safe from obstruction in the near future.
909 Kapiolani has a good, central Kakaako location. It is directly across the street from the Blaisdell Center and adjacent to Pacifica Honolulu where Doraku, Chai’s and Blue Tree Café are located. Ward Village Shops are walkable and the recently opened Whole Foods Kakaako location is just a 5-minute walk. Residents will be able to benefit from future developments within this neighborhood including more retail, restaurants and a future rail station nearby.
