Overview

The Vanguard lofts were completed in 2009 by Cooke Clayton LLC. Black steel, dark brown paint, exposed AC ducts & cement walls, and private residences make this contemporary condo in a class of its own in Kakaako. The original office building completed in 1907 was the hub for the residential redevelopment conversion. An entirely new wing, recreation dec, and condo subdivisions were constructed creating the modest 36 unit residential development.

A quite different modern loft style development was an addition to the existing Nation Cash Register Corporation (NCR) building. Purchased in 2006, Cooke Clayton LLC was committed to revamping the property into commercial office space but instead converted the building to an exclusive residential development.

The original building housed Hawaii’s first used car dealership in the first floor commercial space. Today, Velocity Automotive Gallery occupies the ground floor with high-end European sports cars.


Amenities

The recreation deck for Vanguard Lofts is located on the 3rd floor accessible by key FOB entrance and exit. Residents from the Kapiolani 2nd floor side stack located on the top floor have direct access via their deck to the pool deck via spiral stair case.

Numerous sub bathing areas and lounge style seating arrangements are available around the deck. The centerpiece of the deck is the infinity pool and adjacent hot tub as well as a outdoor BBQ and party area.

Residences

The large unit layouts are accented by high ceilings and top of the line appliances. Standard kitchen appliance brands are Thermadore professional, industrial hood ranges and generous double well sinks. What is truly unique about the Vanguard Lofts is the collaboration of modern finishes, hard wood floors, and overall industrial vibe reminiscent of a New York style loft. The top floor units in most stacks are the pinnacle of this building which include spiral staircases to their own private roof deck. Some decks are complete with personal BBQs & outdoor gardens. Non-top floor units have large lanais.


Views

The Vanguard Lofts are simply not a typical Hawaii view destination property. Buyers looking to this development are more drawn by the industrial feel and smaller development size which keeps the residential community very personable and exclusive.


Location

Located off Kapiolani Blvd. across from Imperial Plaza, the Vanguard Lofts are in a unique location being farther east of Kakaako between Downtown Honolulu & Ward. The condo has easy access to H-1 & walkable restaurants are within the neighborhood.
